How to Make Milano Cookies that Taste Better than Store-Bought

Enjoy homemade Milano Cookies with this foolproof recipe, featuring crisp cookies and luscious chocolate ganache.

  • Total Time: 1 hour 40 minutes (including cooling and thickening)

Ingredients

Scale

1 1/2 cups (180g) Flour

3/4 tbsp (7g) Cornstarch

3/4 tsp Baking Soda

Pinch of Salt

1/2 cup (110g) Butter

1/4 cup (50g) Powdered Sugar

1/4 cup (50g) Sugar

1x Egg

1 tsp (5ml) Vanilla Extract

1 tbsp (15ml) Milk

1 1/4 cups (225g) Semi-sweet Chocolate

1 cup (240g) Heavy Cream

Instructions

Chocolate Ganache:

  1. Cut your chocolate into pieces
  2. Place them in a bowl
  3. In a saucepan, bring the cream to a boil
  4. When it boils, immediately pour it on the chocolate
  5. Wait 30 seconds to a minute before mixing
  6. Start mixing from the center until it becomes homogeneous and glossy
  7. Let it sit at room temperature to let it thicken

Cookie Dough:

  1. In a bowl, mix the flour, the cornstarch, the baking soda, and the salt
  2. With a hand mixer, cream the butter and the sugars until light and fluffy
  3. Add the egg and the vanilla until homogeneous
  4. And in the dry ingredients and milk alternately into the butter mix
  5. Mix until homogeneous

Piping and Cooking:

  1. On a baking sheet, draw 6.5cm lines with a pencil
  2. Turn the sheet over
  3. Fill your piping bag with your cookie dough
  4. Pipe the dough on the line you drew for your cookie shape
  5. Bake in a 400 °F oven for 8 to 12 minutes
  6. Let them cool down completely
  7. Making Sandwich Cookies:
  8. Match all your cookies in pairs
  9. Fill a piping bag with the thickened ganache
  10. Put ganache on one of every pair
  11. And place the second one on top to form a sandwich!
