    • Brown sugar
    • Sugar
    • Eggs

    See recipe card for quantities.

    Instructions for Blondie Brownies

Baking pan lined with parchment paper, roasting of walnuts

    Preparation

Grease and line a 9x9-inch Baking Pan, roast walnuts, chop them roughly once cooled, and set aside.

Mixing of melted butter, sugars, eggs, and vanilla extract in a large glass bowl

    Make the Blondie Batter

Combine melted butter and sugars in a bowl, mix well, then incorporate eggs and vanilla extract.

Dry ingredients combined in a separate glass bowl

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a separate bowl, combine flour, cornstarch, baking powder, and salt.

Add the dry ingredient mix to the batter, stirring until it forms a homogenous mixture.

Three perfectly cut squares of blondie brownies stacked on top of one another.

    Cool and Serve

After allowing the blondies to cool, cut them into squares and serve.

Hint: Be cautious not to overbake them. Overbaking could lead to dry and crumbly blondies instead of the desired fudgy texture. The blondies are done when a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs but not wet batter. Keep in mind that they will continue to cook slightly as they cool in the pan.

    Substitutions

If you need to adapt this recipe to fit a specific dietary requirement, do not worry! Here are a few substitution ideas:

    • For a vegan version, use melted coconut oil or a plant-based butter substitute instead of butter. Replace the eggs with a suitable egg replacer or applesauce.
    • If you have a nut allergy, omit the roasted walnuts or substitute them with your preferred nut-free alternative, such as toasted pumpkin seeds or dried fruit.

Remember to adjust the measurements and baking times accordingly based on the substitutions you make.

    Variations

The beauty of Blondie Brownies lies in their versatility. Feel free to experiment and customize the recipe to suit your preferences or cultural cuisine. Here are a few ideas to get you started:

    • Add a touch of warmth by incorporating spices like cinnamon, nutmeg, or cardamom into the batter.
    • Enhance the texture and flavor profile by mixing in shredded coconut or crushed pretzels.
    • For a decadent twist, drizzle melted caramel or chocolate sauce over the cooled blondies.
    • Experiment with different mix-ins such as dried cranberries, mini marshmallows, or chopped dark chocolate.

The variations are endless, so get creative and make these Blondie Brownies uniquely yours!

    🍴 Equipment

The equipment needed for this recipe is relatively straightforward and commonly found in most kitchens. Here's what you'll need:

    Preparation

    • 9x9-inch Baking Pan: To bake the blondie brownies in.
    • Parchment Paper: For lining the pan to prevent sticking.
    • Knife: For chopping walnuts.

    The Blondie Batter

    • Mixing Bowls: To mix dry and wet ingredients.
    • Hand Mixer or Whisk: For blending the butter and sugars together.
    • Measuring Cups and Spoons: To measure all ingredients.
    • Spatula: To fold in white chocolate chips and walnuts.

Most Useful Equipment: 9x9-inch Baking Pan. It's the most crucial for getting the correct shape and size for your blondies.

If you prefer to use a different pan size or shape, remember to adjust the baking time accordingly to ensure even cooking.

    Storage

Once you've enjoyed your Blondie Brownies, you'll want to store any leftovers properly to maintain their freshness. Allow the brownies to cool completely, then transfer them to an airtight container or wrap them tightly with plastic wrap. They can be stored at room temperature for up to 3 days. If you want to extend their shelf life, refrigerate them for up to a week or freeze them for up to 2 months. Just make sure to thaw frozen brownies before enjoying them again.

    Top tip

To achieve the perfect texture and flavor, make sure not to overbake the Blondie Brownies. Keep a close eye on them during the last few minutes of baking and remove them from the oven when the edges are lightly golden and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs. The residual heat will continue to cook them slightly as they cool, resulting in soft and chewy blondies.

    FAQ

Can I use salted butter instead of unsalted butter?

Yes, you can use salted butter, but adjust the added salt accordingly or omit it altogether.

Can I substitute brown sugar with granulated sugar?

Brown sugar contributes to the rich flavor and moist texture of the blondies. While granulated sugar can be used, the result may differ slightly.

    Can I omit the walnuts?

Absolutely! If you're not a fan of walnuts or have allergies, you can leave them out or replace them with your preferred alternative.

Can I use dark chocolate chips instead of white chocolate chips?

Yes, feel free to use dark chocolate chips if you prefer a deeper chocolate flavor.

Can I double the recipe for a larger batch?

Yes, you can double the ingredients and use a larger baking pan. Adjust the baking time accordingly.

Can I freeze the Blondie Brownies?

Yes, once they are fully cooled, wrap them tightly and store them in an airtight container or freezer-safe bag. Thaw before serving.

Can I use a different nut or nut butter?

Absolutely! You can experiment with different nuts or even incorporate nut butter into the batter for added richness.

Can I make these Blondie Brownies without eggs?

You can try using an egg substitute like mashed banana or applesauce, but it may affect the texture and taste slightly.

Can I use a different pan size?

Yes, you can use a different pan size, but adjust the baking time accordingly. Thinner or smaller pans may require less time in the oven.
